A lifestyle expat travel blog about culture, history, Brexit, the Royal Family, travels around the world, Europe, and being British in Berlin!
I travel a lot and as you all know I’ve been to 64 countries and 5 continents. That’s a lot of travelling!
I also have a professional corporate job, a husband and a teenage son. I’m a strong advocate for smart travel but sometimes things go wrong, and when they do, you have to ask yourself if you’re prepared.
You don’t have to do anything drastic if you want to afford a life of travel.
You don’t have to choose between having it all and having nothing at all, and you definitely don’t have to quit your lifestyle!
But it’s a good idea to get travel insurance in case something goes wrong!
Do you remember that time when I went to Spain for a TBEX conference, and spent most of my time crying, as it was a complete and utter disaster!
What about the time we went to Korea, when really, we should have been going to Qatar?
Now how did that happen?
Believe me, I felt like such a rookie. And did we have travel insurance?
Foolishly we didn’t!
That’s right, we not only ended up with egg on our face, but over €3,000 (three thousand) poorer, and had to add an extra day flying into the Far East, rather than to the Middle East!
Last year, a few years ago I went hiking up a live volcano in Bali, and really regretted it! And having learnt my lesson previously, I can’t imagine going that far beyond, WITHOUT INSURANCE. No siree!
So I chose Travel Insurance from World Nomads, as recommended by Lonely Planet and the National Geographic, and felt assured that if my flight was delayed, my stuff nicked, or (please no!), an accident were to occur, I would be looked after. And if World Nomads is good enough for them, it’s definitely good enough for me!
World Nomads is an online travel insurance service designed for independent travellers created by independent travellers, and for people who love adventure and travel, and whose three key concerns are freedom, safety and connection.
Their travel insurance covers people from over 150 countries, with medical and evacuation cover, 24-hour emergency assistance and cover for a large range of adventure activities. Well quite frankly, if you can’t afford travel insurance, you really can’t afford to travel!
Yes, I said.
However, if you are going to risk it make sure you have some sort of travel insurance.
