A lifestyle expat travel blog about culture, history, Brexit, the Royal Family, travels around the world, Europe, and being British in Berlin!
Countries that I have recently travelled to
I have been to 41 countries in Europe, 12 countries in Asia, 6 countries in Africa, 2 countries in North America, 2 countries in Central Asia, 1 country in South America, 1 country in the Middle East, 5 dependent islands. 4 countries were new in 2015, 4 were new in 2016, 3 were new in 2017, 1 was new in 2018, 4 new countries were in 2019 and the latest new country, was in 2020!
That makes a grand total of 70 countries and 5 continents.
Not too shabby!
I had previously planned for 3 new countries in 2020, which would have made a lovely total of 73 countries, but due to the pandemic, I’ve postponed those trips to 2022 or 2023!
Here are the countries that I have travelled to, in alphabetical order.
A film festival for established film-makers, promising newcomers, talented film students, and anybody else who has an interest in the making of short films: The British Shorts Film Festival.
I just couldn’t believe that the animal statues that were dotted all over the city, were the animals in the old Grimm folk story – The Musicians of Bremen!
Oh my gosh, these photos are stunning! Love this breakdown of all the many countries you’ve seen. I was enticed to read more since that FLUFFY CHOW CHOW thumbnail was too damn cute to pass by! ADORABLE.
Victoria, this is a very comprehensive post with lots of great travel advice. You certainly have done a lot of travelling and your expertise can be helpful to a lot of people. Such a shame you had to postpone your travel plans, but that is the way that has been for so many people. It has been a very hard year for the travel industry, I just hope things will improve for 2021. Stay safe!!
Thanks so much Gilda. I know, it’s been maddening!
At first, I thought I wouldn’t be able to cope NOT travelling as I tend to travel 8 – 10 times a year! However, I studied politics and cottoned on to the situation in Wuhan quite quickly. In fact, this was the very reason that I disrupted 50% of my time at the Berlin International Film Festival (the Berlinale) in February, and cancelled the ITB travel conferences in Berlin as well as the TBEX conference in Italy that was to take part a mere 1 week later in early March!
It’s been strange but also humbling in the sense that all my family is safe n’ sound in both Germany & England, and we all got to keep our jobs / work at home. And thank goodness, I have/ had a “normal” job that I’ve always loved.
One of the many reasons that I rejected Instagram, YouTube, the digital nomad lifestyle, etc. as a means to take my blogging career to the next level. :0 In fact, I’m probably one of the only bloggers in the world NOT using those channels, and I live in Berlin, one of the most desirable cities in the world. What, not to like! 😀
