Countries that I have recently travelled to

British bunting via @sonycctweets

I have been to 40 countries in Europe, 12 countries in Asia, 6 countries in Africa, 2 countries in North America, 2 countries in Central Asia, 1 country in South America, 1 country in the Middle East, 5 dependent islands. 4 countries were new in 2015, 4 were new in 2016, 3 were new in 2017, 1 was new in 2018 and the latest 4 new countries, are in 2019! That makes a grand total of 69 countries and 5 continents.

Not too shabby!

I had previously planned for 3 new countries in 2020, which would have made a lovely total of 72 countries, but due to Covid-19, I’ve postponed those trips to 2021!

Here are the countries that I have recently travelled to in the last 12 months, in alphabetical order.

Don’t choose. Have it all!

  38. Victoria, this is a very comprehensive post with lots of great travel advice. You certainly have done a lot of travelling and your expertise can be helpful to a lot of people. Such a shame you had to postpone your travel plans, but that is the way that has been for so many people. It has been a very hard year for the travel industry, I just hope things will improve for 2021. Stay safe!!

    • Thanks so much Gilda. I know, it’s been maddening!

At first, I thought I wouldn’t be able to cope NOT travelling as I tend to travel 8 – 10 times a year! However, I studied politics and cottoned on to the situation in Wuhan quite quickly. In fact, this was the very reason that I disrupted 50% of my time at the Berlin International Film Festival (the Berlinale) in February, and cancelled the ITB travel conferences in Berlin as well as the TBEX conference in Italy that was to take part a mere 1 week later in early March!

It’s been strange but also humbling in the sense that all my family is safe n’ sound in both Germany & England, and we all got to keep our jobs / work at home. And thank goodness, I have/ had a “normal” job that I’ve always loved.

One of the many reasons that I rejected Instagram, YouTube, the digital nomad lifestyle, etc. as a means to take my blogging career to the next level. :0 In fact, I’m probably one of the only bloggers in the world NOT using those channels, and I live in Berlin, one of the most desirable cities in the world. What, not to like! 😀
