A lifestyle expat travel blog about culture, history, Brexit, the Royal Family, travels around the world, Europe, and being British in Berlin!
We made it!
It’s 2023!
Oh!
My!
God!
I can’t even begin to tell you the stuff that I went through in December / January.
On Christmas Eve!
There was a gas leak nearby, so we ended up with no gas or heating for almost half a month!
Gasp!
I mean, Christmas was literally almost over a dud!
For those who communicated with me via Facebook.
Thaaaaaaaaaank You!
You’re the best.
Thank goodness that’s over, so we can now proceed to the best things in life.
Travel.
Films.
Fashion.
Music.
Everything and anything that makes the life of a British Expat in Germany, all that it should be, and more!
Do you remember when I told you that in 2022, I went to France, England, Spain, and Poland, and spent most of the summer either trying to find a way to get to England or running through Germany with the €9-Euro-Ticket?
Well.
It was amaaaaaazing!
One of the places we went to was a city called Rostock.
In truth, I have been to Rostock many times, but I haven’t actually been to Rostock!
I know.
It’s confusing.
Let me clarify.
Rostock is on the border of Germany to the Nordic Region of Sweden and Denmark, if you want to go by sea.
I do.
And I did.
I had always passed through Rostock while on my way to Sweden and Denmark, but it had never interested me enough for me to actually stop there, except to buy a sandwich, a bottle of water, or to use the facilities!
In fact, Denmark is so close, that in less than two hours, you’re on the stand-alone rocky beach of Gedser Odde, a mere 10 minutes before the Island of Mön!
It was time to visit!
I was not at all disappointed.
In fact, quite the reverse.
I was pleasantly surprised.
It was literally packed with teenagers, families, and lots of young people in their late teens / early twenties, picnicking, blasting pop music, or doing somersaults across the square!
I mean.
Cool!
People have been …
And by people, I mean everyone!
EVERYONE has been coming here, as it’s been around since the eleventh (11th) century!
In 1251, Rostock became a member of one of the most prestigious clubs in the world – the Hanseatic League, otherwise known as Hansa!
More about that soon.
Stay tuned!
