A lifestyle expat travel blog about culture, history, Brexit, the Royal Family, travels around the world, Europe, and being British in Berlin!
I’m not sure you’ve noticed, but for the first time ever, I didn’t write a post in a week!
You might wonder why that was so.
After all, I was all geared up to write about the lovely time that we had in Slovenia.
Well, firstly, something rather wonderful happened and equally, something rather awful happened too!
I’ll be telling you about the wonderful thing in about a fortnight (two weeks), but I probably won’t ever tell you about the awful thing, as it concerns people who I love.
I live in Berlin.
In Germany.
And let me tell you, events have made it crystal clear how lucky I am to be living here, and the speed and efficiency in which things are done.
And since it’s been some time since I’ve actually written about Berlin, perhaps I should.
On that note, I’ve decided to write a compilation of the best articles that I’ve written about Berlin.
If you’re here for the first time, join in the fun.
I know I will!
However, before we start, you might notice a tiny change on the blog. If you’re a new reader, you’ll see a Mail Chimp subscription pop-up. Eek!
There’s nothing to fear. As always, you’ll never receive any spam or weird emails from me, however, in September, I’ll start sending out a newsletter so you’ll get the latest update as to what I’ve been up to. And let me tell you, it’ll blow your mind!
If you haven’t already done so, please join up.
For those of you who have been dying to hear how I sound, there are a few videos on the side bar. Sadly, the documentary and various other TV show that I did in German, are no longer available online, but if you’re a member of the press, and wish to see them, copies are available!
A couple of weeks ago, I went to London, here’s what you missed:
Good times!
And now, without further ado, here the best articles that I’ve written about Berlin.
Enjoy!
And my two favourites:
That’s it for now.
See you next week!
This article is not sponsored and all opinions are my very own!
I’ll be spending the summer in Germany!
I’ll be there. Will you?
Watch this space!
Note! I never travel without insurance as you never know what might happen.
I learnt my lesson in Spain. And obviously, in countries like Qatar, where technically the risk is higher, I can’t imagine going that far beyond, WITHOUT INSURANCE. No siree! You can get yours here, at World Nomads!
Please note that there are now affiliate links (for the very first time) connected to this post. Please consider using the links, because every time some sort of accommodation or travel insurance is booked via my links I get a little percentage, but at no extra cost to yourself!
A win-win for all!
Thanks a million!
See you in Berlin.

Glückwünsche! 😎🇩🇪
Thanks very much! 😉
Hope all is well and continue to have a most excellent time in Berlin :-). You’ve certainly accomplished a lot in so little time. Looking forward to hearing about the wonderful news..
Thanks very much KemKem! Moving to Berlin is one of the best thing that I’ve ever done. You’ll be pleasantly surprised when I write about it!
Re-the other thing. I can’t write about it, but if you PM me I can tell you a little more.
Berlin surely is a very exciting place, I can’t wait to visit. It is has been on my wish list for ages, but somehow I have never made it there. You are a great ambassador for this city 🙂 I enjoyed the short video on your side bar, it is nice to hear what you sound like. You have the perfect voice for TV/radio 🙂
Thanks so much Gilda!
Berlin is the place to be and when you finally get here, it would give me the greatest pleasure to show you around.
p.s You’re awfully sweet about my voice. Thank you. 😀
It’s only been 2 years for me but it’s getting better every day!
Happy anniversary and to many more years in this fantastic city 🙂
Thanks very much!
Hear! Hear! And hurrah and more of the same! 😀
I like that the city is a little rough around the edges, along with the creative spirit of many of the neighborhoods. Definitely among my favorite German cities.
Thanks so much Mitzie Mee!
That’s right! But that’s why we expats love it so. Berlin has the high standard and quality of living of any German city, but still has a certain edge that makes each and every day, a gift of wonder. Ha! Ha! Mind you, once you’ve lived here for a certain amount of time, nothing will ever surprise you again!
People doing a Japanese sword dance on the pavement of a busy road in a highly gentrified area, and nobody taking the slightest bit notice. Except for the tourists. Me! Tick! People walking into Berlin’s oldest and most expensive hotel with make-up and hair all awry, and with the no shoes on. Me! Tick! Having lunch with squatters, but also having drinks at the Bundesrat Parliament Building with Germany’s High & Mighty. Me! Tick! People walking around naked. Not Me! Tick! Is any wonder that when we come to Berlin, we simply never leave! 😀
Berlin is definitely stunning! What do you like the most in Berlin?
It certainly is!
What’s best about Berlin is that you can be yourself, the high level of tolerance that the city vibrates, and the understanding that you can live the life you want, wherever or however you think best, and no one would think that you’re crazy! 😉 The high standards, and cheap cost of living doesn’t hurt either! 😀
